Reopening Schools 2020-2021
Plan A starts March 8, 2021
NHCS is operating under Plan B AA/BB schedule in all grades. Pre-K through grade 5 will transition to Plan A on Monday, March 8, 2021. Grades 6-12 will continue to operate under Plan B AA/BB schedule.
Under Plan A, all elementary students will have the option to choose full-time in-person learning or full-time remote learning. Schools will be contacting parents to verify the attendance option they are choosing for their student.
NHCS families should verify PowerSchool contact information is current to receive Connect 5 phone, email, and text notifications from their schools and the district.

- What will the screening process be like?
Each child’s temperature will be taken by a touchless thermometer upon arrival to school. While students remain in the car, parents will be asked three questions about exposure, symptoms, or diagnosis of Covid 19. Staff will inform the parents that students must return home if symptoms, exposure, or diagnosis exist. The school nurse will follow up with the family of next steps in a safe return to school. Students will be escorted to their classroom by school staff starting on their first day of school.
Procedures When a Student Becomes Ill at School
- How will social distancing be accomplished?
We will teach our young ones about social distancing in school. Our furniture is configured to maintain social distancing in the classroom. We are using a one way traffic flow through our main hall. Students will enter in the morning through the side entrance of the school and exit through the main entrance in the afternoon.
- Who will be required to wear a mask?
All staff and students are required to wear masks. Parents of students with documentation of a critical medical or behavioral need can reach out to the administrator to apply for a mask exception.
